Oh dear, did someone say research?? The BBC covered this in 2002. Not the most up-to date comment from BBCEye, maybe it was a slow day. Anyway the BBC actually broke this story when it uncovered an unpublished report into the affair. If you want, you can read it here (note the date at the top!).
