Unavoidably, the gag reflex kicks in and a terrifying fear of drowning leads to almost instant pleas to bring the treatment to a halt. According to the sources, CIA officers who subjected themselves to the water boarding technique lasted an average of 14 seconds before caving in.
What is really the 'no-brainer', is the fact that this could be described as anything other than torture. At least now we are in no doubt whatsoever that the Bu$h administration has a rather liberal view as to what is defined as torture. One would suspect that if any American serviceman was subjected to such treatment, the administration would be quick to condemn it. Another example of the double standards at the heart of Bu$h Corp.
