Controversy Over Australian Immigration Bill

Further to my earlier post regarding Australia's hard-line immigration system, the new bill has provoked a lot of anger within the Australian parliament. According to reports, the bill will enable the Australian government to:

lock up the children of refugees who try to enter Australia illegally.

How this despicable proposal is even being considered is a very worrying development. Although John Howard dropped the idea after pressure from those in his own party, he has decided that actually it is a good idea after all. How long before tough guy 'Dr' John Reid uses similar hard-man rhetoric??
