Burma - Time For Revolution

Latest reports suggest that up to eight people, including five monks, have been killed in a vicious crackdown by the Burmese government on peaceful protests being held in Myanmar. Despite the efforts of the military dictatorship to destroy any opposition, there is hope that, with the eyes of the world watching, the government's days are numbered. It is difficult to see how they can continue with pressure mounting every day. However, for some, a potential uprising is not good news.

The Burma Campaign UK lists all the companies that are involved in propping up the Burmese government. The list includes:

  • Abercrombie & Kent
  • Chevron
  • Rolls-Royce
  • Siemens
  • Suzuki
  • Total Oil

Amongst others. I suggest you write to some of these companies and pressure them to cease their activities in Burma. It seems like a pretty insignificant activity when compared to the brave actions of the Burmese population, but it is a step nonetheless. I will be writing to a few of these companies over the next few days. I will post any responses I get. Meanwhile, if you want to find out more about the ongoing protests, it might be worth looking at the news page on The Burma Campaign UK website.
