In the UK the ruling party are to change who is our Prime Minister without any general election. In Iraq the majority of lawmakers voted for a timetable for withdrawal of occupying forces. News that went unreported in the mainstream media while it reported no timetable for withdrawal was acceptable to Bush or Blair. Meanwhile the cost of ID cards sky-rocket and the news is hidden.
And in the US they are in no hurry to restore habeas corpus, a centuries old foundation for human rights and protection from unchecked state power.
Two men who tried to blow the whistle on war crimes were convicted in a court where most of the proceedings were secret.
