Contempt for Democracy

The US government has continued to show its contempt for the democratic process by providing aid to opponents of Hamas. According to The Observer, sources in Israel report that the money is being diverted to military training and purchasing weapons for forces loyal to President Abbas. Ever since the election result, the Bush administration has shown utter contempt for the democratic freedoms exercised by the people of Palestine. The Palestinians have continued to suffer as a result of the financial sanctions placed on them by America and Europe with over 2 million people living below the poverty line. Meanwhile, Bu$h Corp pat themselves on the back for their successful policy of 'collective punishment' of a people whose crime is voting for someone that the White House disapproves of.
