Spot the Difference

I'm confused, I think I must have missed something in the past 24hrs, but I can't figure out what. I checked the BBC website when I got home and apparently:

Israel says Wednesday's decision by key world powers not to call for a halt to its Lebanon offensive has given it the green light to continue.

I could have sworn that, when I picked up the newspaper this morning, it read:

For an immediate ceasefire: UN, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Jordan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Canada and Cyprus

Against: US and Britain.

How strange. Now to a simple man, that looks like the international community is condemning these attacks. But no, how foolish I must be. The support of the US and UK means that the international community is right behind the destruction of Lebanon, not against it. So there we have it, the continual bombing of Lebanon which is continuing to cripple the country, and will take many years to repair, has the support of countries across the globe. Well done all.

Where's my fucking pony?

In the meantime, Ayman al-Zawahiri (the very definition of what happens to spoilt middle class kids who don't get what they want from mummy and daddy) has called for a global war on Israel. However, there remains one simple burning question that is nagging away at the back of my mind. Will al-Zawahiri's call to arms (of which I am sure he will be the first in the queue, like all good heads of military organisations) lead to a distraction from the more important matters he has in hand like: when is he going to find time to Feng Shui his cave when there is a war against the infidels to plan? And what is the latest fashion in militant attire? Is green still in?? And, with a drought order in effect, who is he going to maintain those beautiful hanging baskets at the entrance to the cave? I'm sure the normal problems of middle-class life affect him as much as they affect the leafy suburb dwelling chattering classes.

Perhaps al-Zawahiri is actually just miffed because instead of him and his Sunni mates killing Shi'ites, the Israelis are doing it. I mean, the nerve of these people. Or maybe it is because mummy didn't buy him that pony.
