World Zionist Conference

I picked this up over at Lenin's Tomb, which is well worth a visit. They have picked up on a list of resolutions, for the upcoming World Zionist Conference, that make disturbing reading. One in particular has worrying implications for the relationship between the west and Iran. The disturbing passage is contained within resolution 6/18, which:

"calls upon the nations of the world to act aggressively and immediately to remove the Iranian threat".

This is disturbing rhetoric emanating from a body closley affiliated with Israel. With the situation so delicatly balanced at the moment such rhetoric is dangerous and irresponsible in the extreme. The resolutions have been largely ignored by the media, including the supposed enemy of Israel the BBC.

Furthermore, resolution 6/12 wishes to 'outlaw anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism' (nice for them to make the distinction that many fail to make) and resolution 2/3 aims to:

"initiate Zionist activity in the Synagogues and Jewish communities
throughout the world"

In other words, encourage communities to be more pro-Israel and suppress the anti-Isreali rhetoric. This document certainly makes worrying reading. How long will it be before the media actually covers this story?? And how long will it be before there is a further shift in US policy towards Iran??
