Java Death Toll Rises

Lest we forget about the tragedy in Java, there are reports that more than 6,200 people died in the earthquake on Saturday. The situation is still dire there, with hospitals unable to cope with the people injured. Of course, the story has already slipped back in the news and will become another footnote in history, but not for the people of Yogyakarta. For them it will be a long and torturous road to recovery, and we must not forget their ongoing struggles to reach a sense of normality (if indeed that is ever possible).
