Death Penalty

Horrifyingly, the USA has now executed 1,000 prisoners since it re-established the death penalty in the 1970s. Despite the fact that the death penalty has had no real impact in reducing crime (in fact, the figures for those executed has rapidly grown since re-introduction), the US still insists on utilising the practice. However, should we really be surprised as the American government has shown disdain for human rights both at home and around the world. The latest being the alleged mis-treatment of prisoners throughout Europe in stop-overs at European airports. Perhaps there wouldn't be such bad feeling towards the US if it didn't ride roughshod over every other nation and practised what it clearly loves to preach.
